What We Do

The Bench Foundation gives back to first responders and their families.

Our Support

  • A young woman outside smiling in a graduation cap and robe.

    SCHOLARSHIP PROGRAM

We provide scholarships to help the children of first responders meet their fullest potential by supporting their college or trade school goals.

  • Two men shaking hands in support

    FINANCIAL AID

We provide financial support to reduce burden on first responder families in the event of a crisis. This includes providing pathways to mental health resources.

  • Man fishing

    RETIREE PROGRAM

We provide micro-grants to retired first responders for programs and initiatives that support retirees.

The Bench Foundation provides a first-of-its-kind model for retiree peer support through our micro-grant program. We fund programs and initiatives that support retirees.

The Micro-Grant Model

  • Two men on a boat fishing in a lake

    MICRO-GRANTS

The Bench Foundation will select programs and initiatives that support First Responder retirees.

  • A group of people gathered around a campfire near a body of water

    PROJECT IMPLEMENTATION COACHING

The Bench Foundation will offer implementation support to promote the success of the project.

  • Two men in camping chairs sitting by a river fishing

    PEER NETWORK

The ultimate goal is to incubate projects that are self-sustaining after the one year period, creating a network of first responder retirees around the state.

Do you have an idea for a project that will support retired first responders?

Project proposals are accepted on a rolling basis. Micro-grant recipients will be recognized at the annual Bench Foundation Blue Tie Gala.
